We develop in-house software and provide guidance when acquiring specialized products that support specific business needs.
Francisco: Our team manages and develops essential technological tools that support the company’s operations, working collaboratively with other departments. Some key activities related to application management and development are:
Application Tools:
- SAP S/4HANA (ERP): Integrates key processes such as finance, procurement, and budgeting.
- Infrastructure and communications: Network, VPNs, firewalls, and telephony systems that ensure connectivity.
- Servers: Infrastructure that hosts systems, databases, and files.
Development Tools:
- Web applications and APIs: Internal solutions and system connectivity.
- ERP configurations and developments: Adaptions based on operational needs.
All these actions are aligned with the company’s strategic objectives and the specific needs of each department.
Alberto: The IT department comprises different areas, each responsible for managing access to and proper use of technological platforms. These platforms operate locally or in the cloud, allowing users to access various systems. We rely on servers, voice and data networks, custom-developed systems, and a wide range of technological solutions to make this possible.
3. How do you improve efficiency in design, construction, and project management?
Evelyn: Our area focuses primarily on project management processes, optimizing planning, execution, and control. Efficiency has improved through secure, cloud-based collaborative platforms, replacing manual tasks with automated processes. Additionally, specializing in SAP ERP configuration and developing custom systems for construction management has been key to successfully and profitably completing projects.
Francisco: The IT team, through its various technological tools, contributes both directly and indirectly to improving efficiency in design, construction, and project management processes.
- Construction: Project management software, contractor development portal, cost reporting, collections management, and budget analysis.
- Administration: Project control in SAP S/4HANA, integration with BI tools, document management, workflow automation, and collaboration platforms.
Integrating these tools generates valuable information for decision-making, reduces errors, and optimizes resource management.

In the past, the internet and email were enough to perform your duties. Today, advanced collaboration tools allow us to interact as if we were all in the same place.

Francisco: At Hermosillo, security is a top priority—especially when protecting one of our most valuable assets: information. That’s why we’ve established a robust and constantly evolving cybersecurity strategy. Key actions include:
- Clear policies for device usage, passwords, and system access
- Information classification based on sensitivity
- Ongoing cybersecurity awareness campaigns for all employees
- Application of the least privilege principle to limit access
The IT team stays updated with technological changes and promotes a strong security culture.
