Every April 28, World Day for Safety and Health at Work is commemorated—a date dedicated to promoting the prevention of workplace accidents and occupational diseases worldwide. At Hermosillo, we are committed to building structures and safe, healthy, and sustainable environments for everyone involved in our projects.
That’s why, from April 29 to May 4, 2025, we proudly held the second edition of our Safety Week across several active construction sites in Mexicali, Ciudad Juárez, and Querétaro. This initiative aimed to raise awareness and reinforce our safety, health, and environmental culture among all personnel working on our job sites.
Organization-wide participation and commitment
During this special week, 547 construction workers and office staff from multiple departments participated, including Estimation, Purchasing, Design, Human Resources, Management, and Executive Leadership. This cross-functional collaboration reflects our belief that safety is a shared responsibility at Hermosillo.
Highlights of the Week
To raise awareness and promote best practices, we carried out several impactful activities throughout the week:
- On-site practical workshops, including:
- Evacuation drills with rescue scenarios
- Simulated fall and high-altitude rescue using a mannequin
- First aid practice: Heimlich maneuver and CPR
- Sustainability workshop
- Hand safety campaign workshop
- Safety-themed videos are shown before each workshop.
- Commemorative banners are displayed across all participating job sites.
Helmet stickers were distributed to all field personnel, including subcontractors
Competitions to promote a safety culture at home
To extend safety awareness beyond the workplace, we held two special contests:
- “Safety at Work” Children’s Drawing Contest: Boys and girls aged 5 to 15—children or relatives of construction workers—were invited to draw their vision of a safe workplace.
- Santa Cruz Building Contest: Workers created crosses using recycled plastic, wood, or steel. Submissions were judged based on creativity, effective use of recycled materials, cleanliness, and presentation.
The best entries in both contests were awarded, recognizing creativity, commitment, and active participation.

Recognition and final celebration
As part of the week’s closing events:
- Commemorative t-shirts were given to all construction workers.
- Special prizes were awarded to participants who stood out during the workshops.
- Finally, on May 3, in honor of the Day of the Holy Cross (Construction Workers’ Day), each project site held a closing celebration, recognizing our team’s dedication and reinforcing the sense of community that defines us.

At Hermosillo, we firmly believe that safety starts with awareness and grows through action. We are deeply grateful for everyone’s participation in Safety Week 2025. We will continue building safer, more human, and more responsible workplaces.
